5 Organizing Tips to Make it Easy to be a Hostess

Yes, this is my house and it happens to be the table I set for Thanksgiving dinner (which was such a fun holiday for me last year with my friends!). I’m not into hosting dinner parties and I’d have to say that cooking is one of my least favorite activities. Baking I like, cooking not so much. But every once in a while, I venture out as a hostess and I always enjoy it.
Here are 5 organizing tips to make it easy and take some of the pressure off when you are preparing for company:
1) Ask if your guests have food allergies before you plan your menu and do your shopping.
2) Plan your menu ahead of time. Take into consideration the difficulty level of the recipe and your time and energy constraints.
3) Do your shopping well in advance of your event, making sure fresh food will still be fresh. It’s OK to incorporate some premade items to make cooking easier.
4) Consider planning a potluck or asking your guests to bring part of the meal-guests love to help and feel useful!
5) Set the table the night before your company is expected. I always do this as it makes me feel so much better knowing everything is out and ready to go.
Follow these five organizing tips to make it easy to be a hostess and enjoy your company-that’s what it’s all about!
