Do you feel stressed and overwhelmed by all the tasks you are trying to get done in a day? Balance is the key to reducing stress; I know it’s easier said then done, but you’ve got to keep a balance by taking a cold, hard look at your schedule.  Here are 5 signs that your schedule is overloaded:

1)  You can’t get everything done in your day

2)  You are eating at your desk, eating standing up or eating in the car

3)  You don’t have any white space on your calendar to use as catch up time

4)  You are staying up late at night to try to get caught up

5)  You are working more on volunteer projects than your own important projects

What should you do when it’s time to lighten your load?

1)  Really examine your schedule to see if you have bitten off more than you can chew.  It may be time to let someone take over some of your extra activities such as volunteer positions.

2) If you take on something new, be sure to remove an activity of equal time & energy commitment.  That’s balance baby!

3) Get used to saying no.  It doesn’t have to be mean, it doesn’t have to be rude and you don’t have to feel guilty.  If you need some tips on how to say no, I’ve got 10 for you right here!

4)  Examine your goals and see if the activities you are packing your calendar with are truly the activities you should be focusing on.  Sometimes we say yes so much that it takes us away from what is really important to us.  Make sure your activities really count to you!

It’s always a challenge in our busy lives to stay balanced and have less stress in our lives, start by making little changes that will add up to big rewards and maybe even allow for a nice soak in the tub!
