Following My Own Advice

February 23rd, 2009 Goals & Time Management

I’m all about finding balance in our lives.  I talk to people about their time and goals, about focusing on what’s important to them and saying no when they need to.

Well, now I’m really looking at my own schedule, my own goals and re-evaluating how I want to spend my time and energy.  I’ve been looking at what was important to me and what is currently important to me and making some cold, hard choices on which way to go.  Maybe it’s not so easy while in the middle of making those choices but now that I’m through the other side, I feel relief.

So, what that means for me-I am turning down two positions I’ve been asked to volunteer for and when my term ends soon with two other volunteer positions I am involved with, I will not offer to take on another role.  What that also means is that I now feel good about saying I will help out with a project at my local Chamber of Commerce and I feel good about the joint venture I have  taken on with an interior designer.  It means more energy and focus for my business that I am excited and passionate about!

So, don’t feel guilty when it’s time to move on.   Someone else will fill your shoes with enthusiasm while you share your enthusiasm and energy for the next project, volunteer posititon or phase in life!
