Get organized in your home or office by giving yourself some incentive with a special treat to look forward to when you are done. The photo above is my treat today!
I have several little projects going on in my office that need my attention. It started to look messy, so I took some time to separate out my projects and lay them out on the extra table in my office. This did two things:
- Gave me a clear space to work at my desk so I could think straight.
- It also made it easy to see and grab the next project I am ready to work on.
But, in the meantime I went shopping. I’m not a big purse girl, but I needed a new one and needed to replace a ripped wallet since all my coins were getting lost. I may not be “into” purses, BUT a new purse and a new wallet need to be organized and THAT I am “into!”
So, instead of running straight home from the store and loading up my new goodies, I made myself wait until I completed some work in my office first. Organizing the purse and wallet will be my treat for accomplishing more important tasks.
Some ideas for treats that you can enjoy when you finish an organizing project:
- A favorite snack
- An outing like lunch, a movie, enjoying a specialty coffee, browsing a book store
- An activity you enjoy-a bubble bath, a run, reading a book, going for a walk, talking on the phone
Use a treat that doesn’t bring in more clutter to help you get organized! Now I’m off to organize 1 purse and 1 wallet!
