Home Organization Hiccups-What’s Your Trigger?

Organized Pantry

I’ve noticed there are certain items people seem to want to stockpile, almost a trigger of sorts that make them buy more than they need.  I don’t have a clutter problem, but I’ve realized that I actually do the same thing.  Not to stereotype, but I’ve noticed that my Italian friends seem to have comfort in having a well-stocked pantry.  I, on the other hand, tend to only buy the ingredients that I need each month for meals.  One time a good friend, who is normally well-stocked, asked me for red enchilada sauce.  What?! Now why would I have that?  It wasn’t part of my menu plan!

As for myself, I tend to find comfort in having plenty of personal care products such as shaving cream, razors, shampoo and conditioner.  I think back to when I was in my late teens and my grandmother would give me a few dollars to buy things I needed for myself.  It was then that I would buy my own beauty products, maybe there’s a connection….

I’ve noticed with some clients it’s books.  Books = knowledge.  Now, I don’t actually think it’s bad to stock up on things as long as:

You have the space to accommodate it.

Items are not displacing anything else.

You don’t keep more than you can possibly use, thus creating waste.

What’s your trigger?  I would love to hear from you in the comment section letting me know what you tend to stockpile!
