Being Organized Means Less Mess, Less Stress

In most cases, home organization goes hand-in-hand with less stuff.  It means we have what we need, but we aren’t overwhelmed with our belongings and they haven’t crossed the line into causing us stress.  It means our stuff isn’t creeping out of closets, covering our dining room tables so we can’t use them to eat on or pushing us out of our comfy beds.  It means that the belongings we have chosen to keep are stored close to where we will be using them and they are in some type of container, basket or stored on a shelf.  There are many benefits to having less in our lives instead of more.  We tend to want to keep accumulating but that usually produces more problems than it does happiness.  Again I share a quote I heard from the TV show Northern Exposure:  “Happiness doesn’t come from having things but from being a part of things.”

Keep the following reasons to have less in mind:

  • When we have less, we are more in control of our environment.
  • Having less means less to clean.
  • Having less means less to fix.
  • Having less means we can see and find what we do have.
  • Having less means we can use our space the way we want to use it, such as park in the garage.
  • Having less means we don’t have to be embarrassed to invite company into our homes-we have a place for them to sit!
  • Having less means we can look around and see the belongings that reflect our taste and our interests instead of just being piles of clutter.
  • Having less can bring down stress levels between family members.

Reap the  benefits of having less stuff so that you will have less mess, less stress and more enjoyment in your organized home!
