More Is Not Better
Shopping can be fun, shopping can be exciting but having lots of “stuff” just to own it isn’t necessarily a good thing. We have to be careful to keep a balance between our belongings being a joy in our lives versus having them cross the line into being a source of stress.
It’s important to really look at what you own and ask yourself why you are keeping it. Do you use it? Do you love it? How would your life change if you didn’t own it anymore? What’s the worse thing that could happen if you part with that item?
I am careful to only keep belongings that have meaning to me. I keep items that I love to look at it, that I use and I know why they are in my home. When guests come to visit, they can easily see what is important to me. If every surface is filled, then it looks like clutter and no one thing really stands out as important.
So, the next time you have the shopping bug, think about how you would use the item you want to buy, where you would put it and whether there is another item in your home you could part with to make more room.
May your purchases be a joy not a burden!
