Organizing Obstacle

Today I was looking at my nightstand at the variety of reading materials I need to catch up on.  A history book, a time management book, some other reading material for my client work and I realized what I keep reaching for.  I keep reaching for the only entertaining magazine I have laying there.  I know I have these other things to read and some of which I need to return to other people.  But instead of plowing through those, I reach for the easy read at the end of the day.

That got me to thinking…As people we naturally tend to want to do what comes easier or is more enjoyable for us.  Not that we don’t revel in meeting challenges too, but sometimes what we “should” do seems overwhelming and I think that’s why so many people struggle with getting organized.  Organizing means making decisions, parting with belongings and taking time from other activities that might be easier.

So, if organizing isn’t as fun an activity for you as it is for me, then do whatever you need to lighten the mood and make it an easier task.  Organize with good music, good food, good company-whatever it takes to help you roll up your sleeves,  jump in and go for it!  When you do, you’ll reap the rewards of an organized space and that feels great!

Now I have some reading to do!
