Pass on the Phone Book, Help the Environment

January 29th, 2009 Green Organizing

The other day I was in line at the post office when I started talking with a lady who had a  notice to come and pick something up.  She was wondering if it might be a telephone book and she really didn’t want it if that was the case.  We chatted about how nice it would be if you didn’t automatically get a phone book delivered.  Getting a phone book has been an issue that’s bothered me for some time.  As soon as I get the new one I always take it straight to the recycle bin, it seems so wasteful.  It’s so easy to get the information that I need right online.

Well, it turns out I’m not the only one who feels that way!  I recently discovered that you can opt out of receiving phone books-yeah!

Go to http://www.yellowpagesgoesgreen.org/and click on Opt Out to quickly and easily stop the phone book!  If you decide you need one later, you can always call and order one.
