Reign In Your Credit Card Receipts

February 19th, 2009 Office, Paper & Productivity

Do you find you have receipts floating around everywhere?  Receipts stuffed in your purse or briefcase, laying on countertops, mixed in with papers on your desk?  Well, receipt storage can be as easy as envelopes labeled according to the name of your credit or debit card.

  • Take one envelope per credit or debit card and place the name of that credit card on the outside of the envelope:  Mastercard, Visa, Discover, Debit Card, etc.
  • Each time you use your card, come home and place the receipt in the labeled envelope.
  • When your statement comes you can quickly check the receipts from that envelope against your statement.
  • Time to shred the receipts that do not need to be saved.
  • If you have a receipt with an item that may need to be returned, you can keep a “Return” envelope as well-clean it out when you know the item is a keeper.

Reign in your receipts and keep them at your fingertips!
