In “Why I Organize My Home-Part 1,” I discussed the emotions that I feel when I am organized in my own home. How I feel about organization warranted not one but two blog entries! Part 2 is really more about the practical side to having my home organized. So, here I will share with you the practical reasons why I keep my home organized:
- When anyone needs something I know right where to find it! Everything has a home. Finding an important paper-it’s a snap!
- No worries at tax time, no digging either!
- We save money because we don’t have to purchase duplicates-we can easily see what we already have.
- Countless hours saved by not having to turn the house upside down looking for stuff. Saves stress too!
- The house doesn’t have to be perfect, but I can let people in without shutting doors (well, maybe sometimes the kid’s doors!).
- Cards, gifts, phone calls for people’s special occasions-on time, no problem!
- Because I do try to prepare for upcoming events ahead of time, I think a lot of stress is avoided from having to run around frantic to prepare or shop for something coming up at the last minute.
I’m sure I could think of plenty more reasons why I organize my home, and surely they all bring positive benefits!

If you stay on top of clutter, that really helps. Don’t let things pile up, they start to become overwhelming. Consider a Home Office solution. California Closets has many options to choose from, no matter if your space is tiny, under the stairs, like mine is. It looks great, and is a space I never would have thought to use as a work area. I love it!
